Have a go at the Ancient Art of Gyotaku Printing
Join me in my home studio which has great views across the Menai Strait to the Snowdonian Mountain Range beyond (Welsh weather allowing!) In my studio, over a panad (tea or coffee!) I'll explain the history of this unusual printing technique before demonstrating how to print from the surface of a fish. I'll aim to use a local sea bass caught in the waters that you can see from the studio. If printing a fish doesn't appeal, I can always help you print a shell or leaf instead. After my demonstration, I'll give you the opportunity to have a go yourself onto fabric that you'll be able to take away with you and frame. I'll go on to explain how I make works on paper ready for framing using the ancient Japanese technique of Urauchi.
