Clifton Beach, Queensland, ऑस्ट्रेलिया

The Northern Beaches of Cairns are a fabulous place full of tourist activities and natural beauty.
To get a definitive list go to:
Here are a few we have tried and can recommend:
Swim in our Pool, or the beach(if its not stinger season).
Ride our bikes (shed at the back).
Go fishing off the pier with our fishing gear (please don't use the rod in the bike shed)
Palm Cove
(10 mins walk by beach or path - 10 mins by car via highway)
Excellent clothes, art, opals, gems, rings and necklaces
Day spas, all very good and many to choose, try Beach Club or Sea Temple.
Many excellent restaurant choices.
Beach Almond is nice and the most relaxed place with great food. Say hello to Brian and Sarah the owners who work there. Sebel Reef House restaurant is good, for an expensive treat try Nunu in Alamanda. There are lots of restaurants in Palm Cove, at least two weeks worth!
For drinks near the beach there is the Apres Beach Bar (a lot of kitch). The pub is kid friendly and has good food on most nights. Even more relaxed and cheaper and also kid friendly is the Surf Club.
Coffee is good up the Northern end and down teh Southern end of Palm Cove, for a quick bite you can't beat Cocky's on the Cove at Lunchtime.
For a lazy breakfast and great food and coffee try Chill cafe opposite the Alamanda at the southern end, but don't go there if in a rush (go next door for quicker service) its a place to chill and relax, very full at peak times.
Pizza in the Paradiso is good but don't get take away (it loses a lot.
There is a Liquorland but not a lot of choice for good wine so stop at Dan Murphy's in Smithfield on the way through from Cairns. (There will be a chilled bottle waiting when you arrive.)
Paradise Palms Golf Club
Ranked 13 in Australia - a truly great golf experience.
We keep a set of clubs there, call for more information.
Trinity Beach
Definitely go to L'Unico and have the BBQ seafood.
Yorkeys Knob
Check out The Yacht club on Monday/Tuesday nights for a great feed. Need to book during school hols. They have a courtesy bus which comes up as far as Onda, they will pick you up form the front gate!.
Port Douglas
The markets on Sunday are a great day out. On the way up or back stop at the Lookout and or Thalia Resort for a coffee, or the Croc Farm at Hartley.
Go to Port for a day trip then on to the Daintree for the afternoon, do a river cruise looking for crocs, then get an icecream at the factory and a make sure you get a barra burger in the township at Daintree.
The Zoo at Port is good, especially the bird show.
Cape Tribulation
For something truly inspirational drive up to Cape Tribulation, the rain forest is incredible and cape trib beach a green zone (can't take anything) is amazing as is the board walk near there. Wear repellent on the beach at dusk - there are sand flies then.
The Northern beaches give you the option of running up to Kuranda or down to Cairns for fishing, tours, night shopping or the DFO if its wet. Its only a 25 min drive to Cairns.
Kuranda village
is touristy, but the train ride is great and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Cnr of Captain Cook Highway and Cairns Western Arterial Road 4038 1555 with the rainforest station stops is worth doing at least once. There are always a few bargains at the Markets if you are astute, there are some nice clothes shops and places to eat that are quite nice.
Cairns Go Cart Hire Track
just north of Cairns near the turn off to Yorkey's (south from us)is great fun too.
Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park on Cairns Western Arterial Road at Caravonica Qld 4042 9990 next door to Skyrail is worth a visit, and not far away the Australian Armaments Museum.

Atherton tableland.
Youngenburra is at least an hour's drive but a great place where you can see platypusses in their own river in the middle of town via glass observation windows, a great old pub and the Swiss restaurant if you're staying for dinner.
Don't miss the crater lakes and the lavatubes.

Great Barrier Reef
Of course there's the reef. Quicksilver leaves from Palm Cove wharf everyday, many other tours also operate, go on a still day.

For Gardens check out the botanic gardens in at the Centenary lakes.
Green Island: an easy way to see coral.

Cascades, Mossman Gorge, the Barron River

outside the reef or up the estuary in Cairns.

For the more adventurous:
helicopter, bungy cable ski-ing trailbiking, walking up Pyramid Hill, Sugar Mill tours, there's just too much to mention!!

A lot of the time we just like chilling out on the deck next to the Pool or the beach.

Have a great stay!!
