As of September 2018 we have repainted the rental. There are new window treatments and other details that give the bedrooms even greater privacy. न्यू ऑर्लेअंस, Louisiana, संयुक्त राज्य

The Mid City neighborhood is unique in New Orleans in many ways. First it is centrally located and a hub to which you have easy access to all parts of the city including having convenient interstate access for those arriving by car or to the airport. Our B & B is 3 minutes from the entrance/exit off I-10.
Mid City was hit very hard during Katrina and was heavily flooded for weeks but, not only has it's prior character been restored, there has been a renaissance of restaurants, retail shops, groceries, bars, pubs, nightclubs, parks, amenities, and attractions that have added renewed vigor and charm to the community.
We have gathered menus from all over the area and recommend consulting "Yelp", "Urbanspoon", AroundMe", "Open Table", or other widely available smartphone apps to assist you in familiarizing yourself with the area.
There is Mandina's right across the street for well over 100 years serving fantastic Creole Cuisine of the highest order at reasonable prices. Around the corner is one hundred year old fifth generation Angelo Brocato's Gelatoria famous for homemade gelato, ice cream, macaroons, pastries and more. You will find 3 great breakfast/brunch options all within a block in three directions where you can dine outdoors. There are Mexican, Vietnamese, Bistro, Philippino, Chinese, Traditional Po Boy, Pizza, Lebanese, Turkish, Coffee shops, French fine dining, BBQ, Italian, Jamaican, Sushi, and so so much more and much of it available for delivery.
Mid City is home to The New Orleans Museum of Art which features local and international exhibits. It is located at the grand entrance of our sprawling City Park which reaches almost to the shore of Lake Ponchatrain and is laced with bayous with kayaks to row around, nature trails, and outdoor exhibits of South Louisiana flora and fauna, and is a bird watchers paradise rare in an urban American setting. The Mississippi flyway for birds and wildlife transiting from the far northern reaches of North America to the South American Continent makes City Park and Bayou St. John running along it's eastern side a place to see bald eagles, herons, egrets, hawks, and numerous waterfowl. The park also contains a 24 hour coffee and beignet indoor/outdoor cafe, The Morning Call, itself a 140 year old local tradition.
Mid City is home to the the Pitot House along Bayou St. John built in 1799 and home to the first American Mayor of the city and later to Mother Cabrini, America's first Catholic saint.
There is so much to say about Mid City and it's place in New Orleans that you simply must come and visit it for yourself.

I am a 30 year resident of New Orleans from a small town in West Tennessee. I grew up near Memphis then went to high school and college there at the University of Memphis and then in New Orleans at Tulane. I studied archaeology, history, and anthropology. I spent time traveling in England, Sierra Leone in West Africa, Brazil, Belize, Jamaica, and all over the United States. While traveling I studied various traditions, many of which relate directly to the unusual "gumbo" of Louisiana's and New Orleans' social, religious, culinary, and overall one of a kind history. I worked for years in the restaurant business as a server and cook eventually becoming a chef and stewarding a number of kitchens in Memphis, Denver, and New Orleans. I have spent many of those years in the natural food industry, catering, working for movies and film services, and as a personal chef. I helped feed the Unified Command of the Coast Guard, NOAA, US government officials, and various agencies organized to handle the BP oil spill crisis. Over the years I have learned coffee roasting in New Orleans as well as worked on horticultural installation in private gardens and balconies of some of New Orleans most historic properties in both the French Quarter and the Garden District learning a great deal about the local flora and fauna. I have raised it, fertilized it, fed it, harvested or, as gently as possible, butchered it, marinated and spiced it, cooked and served it, and more often than not I can tell you more of the history of it than you might have the patience for listening. I most recently took classes from hugely respected Dr. William Norris at Delgado Collage on the history of Louisiana and New Orleans to become a tour guide. I am now interested less in kitchen work than guiding people through the incredible and unique features of this area. The French Quarter, Garden District, Historic Cemeteries, Culinary wonders, Plantation homes, and all the history found no where else on this planet. It would be my pleasure to answers questions, be available as a guide or even personal chef if possible depending upon your needs and my schedule.
