In the UCSF student union. I don't think there is a better view than this in San Francisco. Have a sandwich, glass of wine and espresso and sit on the deck overlooking Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and beyond to Marin. Spectacular. Don't expect much from the food. It's just OK.

It's just a trailer where there used to be a gas station, but they've converted it to a garden setting with picnic tables that is simply charming. The salads are just as amazing as the pizza. Good food takes time, so order and head across the street to Flora Grubb Gardens to check out the exquisite gifts and a horticultural display like no other. The T line serves the 3rd street corridor and will take you there. Closed Saturday.

If you prefer organics and a small co-op atmosphere, this is a great little market in the artsy, surfer neighborhood 40 blocks west of here, by the beach. Make a morning of it and go to Trouble Coffee, AndyTown, ThreeFish Studio, Mollusk Surf shop and the beach.
