World renown kite boarding is just south of us! Here in the Pamlico Sound on Hatteras Island, the combination of warm waist deep water, steady wind and sandy shorelines makes this one of the best places in the world to learn and progress your kiteboarding skills.

You are in a true kiting mecca in the U.S. Take a lesson and see if you enjoy this new wind and water sport or head to Real and sit on the back deck and have a beer and some food at Waterman's Restaurant and what the kiters do their thing. Great sunsets can also be had here.

About 45 minutes south is a great retail shop, connected to a great restaurant (Waterman's Grill) and some of the best (free) kite boarding shows you can see. The Outer Banks is known as being one of the best spots in the world for Kite boarding. If you head down to Real and walk to the back you can watch some world class kite boarders doing their thing, and it is amazing to watch. There is also live music Friday and Saturday nights.
